If we didn't know birds lived in trees would we think that the trees themselves whistled?

I've never seen so many open binders on the laps of students in the hallway the week before Spring Break.

Even her speaking voice was tone deaf.

It's snowing leaves outside my window.

1/25/07 ~ The exposed flesh of the apple glistened in the sunlight

2/7/07 ~ The smell of freshly chopped salsa permeated through the room
The wasted salsa still retained its aroma as it lay stagnant in the kitchen sink.

2/9/07 ~ The sun was shining brightly through the shady trees, the air smelled of sweet aebelskeevers freshly sprinkled with powdered sugar. The breeze felt cool on my face like a clean bed sheet brushing past. We sat in the park for hours. We played a card game and others bustled through conversing with family and friends.
My parents had been long gone, but my dad managed to leave a mark -drippings from his Chinese food on my already dingy tile.

3/4/07 ~ The cool spring breeze swept wisps of hair across my face. The birds happily chirping and wishing the beautiful and stately steeple had a bell inside to toll the hours. I could even hear some organ music flow through the open doors.

3/6/07 ~ Boys walk like girls, girls walk like boys. It's a world gone mad!

3/13/07 ~ The mechanical bugs moving the earth around next to the road.
While I was scooping tuna helper into my tupperware, it slopped out making a squishing sound that reminded me of my sister.

To my left, a group of older men and women played a game of cards under the cabana. One of them bursted out a profanity because of a bad card.
When I was learning how to swim, at the end of each lesson, my instructor would pass out licorice. To this day, when I have Red Vines licorice, the smell of chlorine is present in my nose.

7/18/07 ~ I am the Queen of the Weirdos. This is partly a self-proclaimed title and a little bit of an imposed one. I think it all started when my dad had to start from scratch which meant less money and the two worst words in the world a kids wants to hear: homemade clothes.

2/4/09 ~ The last time I read "The Diary of Anne Frank" was ten years ago. I didn't understand then the depth and reality of the characters I was reading about. Even though Anne changed some names, these were real people with real problems. How could I not grow to love these people? Now that I'm teaching the play, I've gotten close to the characters. I find myself wondering what I would have done if I were in Anne's shoes spending time with Peter. Would I have fallen for him too?

11/25/10 ~ The only difference between eating dinner with your family today and any other day is that the rest of the country will be stuffing themselves too.

1/21/12 ~ Casey's facial hair clippings looked like cookie crumbs in my sink.

1/24/12 ~ The millions of beads of water rushed from the shower head like a snarling lioness.

"I know, I could smell her coming."

7/28/12 ~ I wish I had two mouths, one for eating, one for talking.
